Accessibility.

Effective May 11, 2026. We want getaplomb.com to be usable by everyone who needs what we make.

Our standard

We aim for conformance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We test against that bar on every release and treat any regression as a release blocker.

What we’ve done

  • Every image carries descriptive alt text. Decorative images carry alt="".
  • Every interactive control is reachable by keyboard. Focus rings are visible.
  • Forms have associated labels and clear error states.
  • Body text holds a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background.
  • The cart drawer, product modal, and newsletter popup can be dismissed with the Escape key.
  • A skip-to-main-content link is the first element in the tab order.
  • Pages are still readable when JavaScript is disabled, with the exception of checkout (which requires Stripe Elements).

Where we know we fall short

  • Decorative carousels auto-advance; they pause on first user interaction. Users on the prefers-reduced-motion setting see a static layout.
  • Some marketing images carry long descriptive alt text that screen readers will spend time on. We are evaluating a switch to figcaption for those.
